Calgary Startup No-Q Brings Mobile Ordering to Festivals and Outdoor Events
Calgary’s vibrant festival and food truck scene has given rise to a new local innovation tackling one of the most common event frustrations: waiting in line. No-Q, developed by Axer Technology, is a mobile-first ordering platform that helps vendors serve customers faster and increase their sales without the need for additional infrastructure.
The idea is simple. Vendors create an online storefront in minutes, share a QR code or link, and start accepting orders directly from customers’ phones. Guests browse menus, place orders, and pay instantly with no apps, no lines, and no waiting around. The platform streamlines transactions and improves crowd movement at busy events.
Co-founder Olumide Olajide explained in an interview with Calgary.tech that the inspiration came from Calgary’s lively festival culture, especially the Calgary Stampede, which attracts more than 1.2 million visitors each year. The team wanted to create a system that supports local vendors and enhances the attendee experience without requiring technical expertise to set up.
Axer Technology was established by three technologists from Calgary, who have more than 25 years of combined experience in product design and software engineering with a focus on both sides of the festival economy. They aim to equip vendors with a plug-and-play ordering solution that limits congestion and gives event organizers a more effective means of running their operation.
Looking ahead, No-Q’s developers are building an Event Manager Dashboard that will allow organizers to track real-time data on vendor performance, sales trends, and customer behavior. The goal is to make No-Q the preferred mobile ordering solution for events across Canada and eventually North America as digital transformation continues to reshape how people experience live events.
